Estoy aquí, profesor Salyards.
Sí, y me complace mucho que lo hayas hecho, y que estés en tan buenas condiciones para escribir esta noche. Bueno, deseo continuar mi discurso sobre las leyes del mundo espiritual, tal como las conocen muchos espíritus.
La siguiente ley es que por mucho conocimiento que un hombre haya adquirido sobre las cosas materiales y sobre las leyes puramente físicas en la tierra, su conocimiento no es suficiente para capacitarlo para las cosas superiores de la vida espiritual.
Muchos hombres creen que, por poseer este gran conocimiento del universo material, no necesitan intentar aprender las leyes que rigen el funcionamiento de la vida espiritual, ni las leyes que determinan la posición y el desarrollo de esa parte del hombre comúnmente conocida como el alma.
Este es un grave error, y tarde o temprano todos los seres humanos comprenderán la necesidad de aprender estas leyes más importantes del desarrollo del alma y de la parte espiritual del hombre. Nunca, mientras estuve en la tierra, intenté investigar estas leyes y, en consecuencia, al llegar al mundo espiritual, mi comprensión de ellas era como la de un recién nacido; y así será también para todos los humanos que, como yo, hayan descuidado su investigación y estudio.
Por lo tanto, aconsejo a todo hombre que se esfuerce al máximo por estudiar estas leyes, y especialmente la parte que trata más específicamente del desarrollo del alma y su progreso hacia la mayor felicidad. Estas leyes se exponen y declaran extensamente en el Nuevo Testamento, y en algunas partes del Antiguo hay muchas sugerencias sobre lo que debe hacer el hombre para salvar su alma de la muerte; y con esto me refiero a la muerte que viene por descuidar el ejercicio de todas las cualidades del alma que un hombre es capaz de ejercer durante la vida mortal. Un hombre puede dejar morir sus facultades mentales al descuidar el alimento mental adecuado, y lo mismo ocurre con el alma. Por supuesto, el alma nunca muere, hasta donde sabemos, en el sentido de destrucción y desintegración absolutas, pero puede caer en tal estado de inercia o letargo que, en la medida en que forma parte de las actividades del hombre, es como si estuviera muerta.
No quiero decir que el mero descuido en el ejercicio de estas facultades del alma hará que el alma de un hombre permanezca muerta para siempre, porque no es así. Tarde o temprano, ya sea en la vida mortal o en la espiritual, esta alma despertará, pero ese despertar puede demorarse muchos años, e incluso siglos, y, en su sentido más elevado, puede que nunca lo despierte. Así pues, que los hombres conozcan la importancia de estudiar y aplicar estas leyes espirituales en sus propias existencias mientras son mortales, y, cuando se conviertan en espíritus, descubrirán la gran ventaja que dicho estudio y aplicación han demostrado ser para su progreso y felicidad.
Existe otra ley del mundo espiritual de vital importancia para quienes viven en la vida mortal, y que pueden aprender: nadie puede, por sí mismo, librarse de las penalizaciones de la ley de compensación. He escrito sobre esto antes, pero es de tan vasta importancia, y afecta a todos los seres humanos hasta tal punto, que me siento justificado a añadir algo más al respecto.
Esta ley de compensación es tan inamovible como cualquiera de las leyes de Dios, y no puede evitarse bajo ninguna condición ni circunstancia, salvo una: la redención del alma humana mediante la entrada del Amor del Padre en ella, uniéndola a la de Él, y haciéndola como la Suya en todas las cualidades que conforman la esencia Divina.
Sé que muchos no creen que pueda haber ningún perdón de los pecados, pues afirman que es imposible purificar en un instante el alma de un hombre que ha estado inmerso en todo lo vil y pecaminoso durante su vida mortal. Bueno, creo que esto es cierto, y no creo que ninguno de nuestros grandes maestros de estas verdades supremas intente proclamar la doctrina de la purificación instantánea de un alma vil y pecadora; al menos, esa no es la doctrina que enseña el más grande de todos los maestros, el hombre de Nazaret, a quien a veces veo y con quien converso; y él, creo, conoce más de las leyes que rigen la salvación de los hombres que cualquier otro maestro, o todos los demás maestros juntos.
Su enseñanza en esto es que, si bien un alma no se purifica instantáneamente al recibir una porción del Amor Divino, como ya os hemos explicado, la afluencia de dicho Amor en el alma de una persona la inicia en el camino del pensamiento recto, y hace que comprenda que su alma está abierta a la influencia de este Amor Divino. Así, tanto los mortales como los espíritus pueden recibir este despertar de la Gracia Divina, en gran medida, tan pronto como comprendan que este Amor es lo único que eliminará las penalizaciones de esta ley de compensación.
No creo que, inmediatamente después de que el pecador sienta este Amor entrar en su alma, se convierta en santo y se libere de una vez de su naturaleza malvada, pues eso difícilmente puede ser posible. Una purificación tan instantánea difícilmente cumpliría el propósito de la obra de este Amor redentor.
Algunas personas parece que pueden recibir más de este Amor en poco tiempo que otras y, en consecuencia, su redención completa se logra con mayor rapidez. Pero para mí ─y he experimentado la afluencia de este Amor y su efecto en mi naturaleza pecaminosa, y en el recuerdo de las acciones de mi vida terrenal que ponen en funcionamiento esta ley de compensación─ no parece haber ninguna probabilidad de una purificación instantánea del alma, de modo que un hombre se vuelva repentinamente apto para vivir en los Ámbitos Celestiales, donde existe el Amor del Padre en toda su pureza y plenitud. Sé que muchos predicadores enseñan, y también es dogma de algunas iglesias, que la sangre de Jesús limpia de todo pecado ─y eso, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos─; pero no debes creerlo, porque no es cierto. La sangre de Jesús se derramó hace muchos siglos, y ahora forma parte de otros elementos del mundo natural, y no puede salvar a nadie. Y voy más allá y digo, tal como Jesús me enseñó, que su sangre nunca tuvo eficacia alguna para salvar a nadie. Nunca enseñó que su sangre pudiera hacer tal cosa, ni que el derramamiento de su sangre fuera, en ningún sentido, el medio para salvar un alma. Él no enseña ahora tal doctrina, y le decepciona que quienes dirigen a las masas de la humanidad la enseñen, porque desvía su atención del principio único y vital necesario para su salvación: el Nuevo Nacimiento, que significa simplemente la afluencia, en el alma de una persona, del Amor Divino del Padre, y el hecho de que ese Amor forme parte de esa alma. Y no le llega al hombre porque la sangre de Jesús sea un sacrificio para apaciguar la ira y las exigencias del Padre, ni por ningún sufrimiento vicario de Jesús.
Pero, volviendo a esta ley de compensación: nadie, por sus propios esfuerzos, puede salvarse por sí mismo de las operaciones de esta ley, y mientras conserve la idea de depender de sus propios poderes, tendrá que pagar las penalizaciones. Por supuesto que, al pagarlas, se acerca cada vez más a un momento y una condición en que la ley dejará de operar sobre él y será comparativamente feliz; pero tal pago puede requerir largos años de sufrimiento e infelicidad.
Por lo tanto, digo, que el hombre sepa que por cada acto y obra, y por no haber hecho lo que debía haber hecho, tendrá que responder ante la ley. Con esta repetición no pretendo que los hombres piensen que me deleito en mostrarles que tendrán que sufrir y vivir en la oscuridad por un tiempo incierto, pues no obtengo ningún placer al llamar su atención sobre esta gran ley y la certeza de su funcionamiento. Más bien, hago esto para ayudar a los hombres a evitar estos sufrimientos e infelicidad, buscando el Amor del Padre mientras estén en la tierra, pues, según mis observaciones, creo que se puede encontrar más fácilmente en la carne que después de convertirse en espíritu.
Otra ley del mundo espiritual es que todo ser humano de un sexo tiene, en la tierra o en el mundo espiritual, a una persona del sexo opuesto, que es su alma gemela [por la importancia del tema para nuestro tiempo, recordemos aquí que hay un porcentaje no mayoritario de personas cuya alma gemela encarnó en un cuerpo físico del mismo sexo]. La importancia de esta provisión del Padre para la felicidad de los humanos y los espíritus nunca ha sido plenamente comprendida por quienes no han conocido y reconocido con certeza a sus almas gemelas.
Sé que en la tierra los hombres han afirmado que ciertas personas del sexo opuesto eran sus afines, y con tales afirmaciones como excusa, han cometido muchos errores y pecados.
Pero la unión de almas no es una afinidad sugerida por las pasiones o los deseos, sino una provista por la gracia y el Amor del Padre para vivir con la otra alma gemela por toda la eternidad. Antes de encarnarse, las dos estaban unidas, y cuando, según el plan de Dios, se separaron y se convirtieron en mortales, no eran menos almas gemelas, aunque durante la vida mortal puedan no recordar su anterior unidad o relación. Pero es tan cierto como que Dios vive que estas dos almas gemelas, en algún momento, tras convertirse en espíritus, descubrirán su verdadera relación y, si no ocurre nada insalvable, volverán a estar juntos en verdadera unión y felicidad.
El mero hecho de que un hombre y una mujer sean marido y mujer en la tierra no significa que vayan a vivir juntos como marido y mujer por toda la eternidad. Si son almas gemelas, puede que sí, pero si no lo son, sin duda se separarán tras entrar en el mundo espiritual. Esa verdadera relación no se puede ocultar aquí, y ninguna mera forma de relación entre marido y mujer será suficiente para mantener a las personas unidas.
La gran verdad de las almas gemelas requiere mayor explicación, y más adelante intentaré explicarla con más detalle. Pero por ahora basta con decir que todo hombre nacido de mujer tiene su alma gemela, ya sea en la tierra o en el mundo espiritual, y viceversa.

I AM HERE, Professor Salyards.
Yes, and I am very much pleased that you have, and that you are in such good condition to write tonight. Well, I desire to continue my discourse on the laws of the spirit world, as known to many spirits.
The next law is: That no matter how much knowledge of material things and of purely physical laws a man may have acquired on earth, his knowledge is not sufficient to fit him for the higher things of the spirit life.
Many men think that because they have this great knowledge of the material universe, they need not attempt to learn the laws which control the operations of spirit life, or the laws which determine the position and development of that part of man commonly known as the soul.
This is a very great mistake, and all human beings, sooner or later, will realize the necessity of learning these more important laws of the soul development, and of the spiritual part of man. I never, while on earth, attempted to investigate these laws, and consequently, when I came into the spirit world, I was as a newborn babe in my understanding of these laws; and so will all humans be who have neglected the investigation and study of these laws, as I did.
I would, therefore, advise every man to give his best endeavor to the study of these laws, and especially that part of them which deals more particularly with the soul’s development and progress towards the greatest happiness. These laws are set forth and declared to a very large extent in the New Testament, and in some parts of the Old are many suggestions as to what a man should do to save his soul from death; and by this I mean the death that comes with neglecting to exercise all the qualities of the soul that a man is capable of exercising, when in the mortal life. A man may let his faculties of mind die by neglecting to feed them the proper mental food, and so with the soul. Of course, the soul never dies, as far as known, in the sense of absolute destruction and disintegration, but it can get into such a state of inertia or lethargy that, so far as it is a part of the activities of man, it may as well be dead.
I don’t mean to say that the mere neglect to exercise these soul faculties will cause a man’s soul to remain dead forever, for that is not so. Sooner or later, either in the mortal life or in the spirit life, this soul will have an awakening, but that awakening may be delayed for many years, and even centuries, and, in its highest sense, it may never have an awakening. So let men know the importance of studying and applying these spiritual laws to their own selves while mortals, and when they come to be spirits, they will find what a great advantage to their progression and happiness such study and application have proved to be.
There is another law of the spirit world that is of vital importance to those in the mortal life, and one which they can learn, and that is, that no man can, of himself, save himself from the penalties of the law of compensation. I have written about this before, but it is of such vast importance, and affects all human beings to such an extent, that I feel justified in saying something more on the subject.
This law of compensation is as fixed as any of God’s laws, and cannot be avoided under any condition or circumstances, except one, and that is the redemption of a man’s soul by the Love of the Father entering into it, and making it at-one with His own, and like His in all the qualities that partake of the Divine essence.
I know that many men do not believe that there can be any forgiveness of sin, because they say it is impossible to make clean, in a moment, the soul of a man that has been steeped in everything vile and sinful while living the life of a mortal. Well, this I believe to be true, and I do not think any of our greatest teachers of these highest truths attempt to declare the doctrine of instantaneous cleansing of a vile and sinful soul; at least, that is not the doctrine taught by the greatest of all teachers, the man of Nazareth, whom I sometimes see and converse with; and he, I believe, knows more of the laws governing the salvation of men, than any other or all other teachers combined.
His teaching here is, that while a soul is not instantaneously cleansed by receiving a portion of the Divine Love, as we have heretofore explained it to you, yet the inflowing of such Love into the soul of a man starts him into the way of right thinking, and causes him to realize that his soul is open to the influence of this Divine Love. So mortals, as well as spirits, may receive this awakening of Divine Grace, to a very large extent, as soon as they realize that this Love is the only thing that will remove the penalties of this law of compensation.
I do not believe that immediately after the sinner feels this Love coming into his soul, he becomes a saint and at once gets rid of his evil nature, for that can hardly be. Such an instantaneous cleansing would scarcely serve the purpose for which the work of this redemptive Love is intended.
Some persons seem to be able to receive more of this Love in a short time than do others, and, consequently, their complete redemption is more quickly accomplished. But to me – and I have experienced the inflowing of this Love, and its effect upon my sinful nature, and upon my recollections of the deeds of my earth life which call into operation this law of compensation – there does not seem to be any probability of an instantaneous cleansing of the soul, so that a man suddenly becomes fitted to live in the Celestial Heavens, where the Father’s Love, in all its purity and completeness, exists. I know it is taught by many preachers, and it is also the dogma of some churches, that the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin – and that, in the twinkling of an eye – but you must not believe this, for it is not true. The blood of Jesus was spilled many centuries ago, and is now become a part of other elements of the natural world, and cannot save anyone. And I go further and say, as Jesus has taught me, that his blood never had any efficacy in saving anyone. He never taught that his blood could do any such thing, or that the shedding of his blood was in any sense, the means of saving a soul. He is not now teaching any such doctrine, and is disappointed that those who lead the masses of mankind should teach any such doctrine, because it takes their attention away from the one and vital principle which is necessary to their salvation. And that is, the New Birth: which means merely the flowing into a man’s soul and becoming a part of it, of the Divine Love of the Father. It does not come to a man because the blood of Jesus was a sacrifice, to appease the wrath and requirements of the Father, or because of any vicarious suffering of Jesus.
But to return to this law of compensation. No man, by his own exertions, can save himself from the operations of this law, and he, so long as he has this idea of depending on his own powers, will have to pay the penalties. Of course, as he pays these penalties, he progresses nearer and nearer to a time and condition when the law will cease to operate upon him, and he will become comparatively happy; but such payment may require long years of suffering and unhappiness.
So, I say, let man know that for every act and deed, and for not doing what he should have done, he will have to answer the law. I do not mean by this repetition to cause men to think that I delight in showing them that they will have to suffer and live in darkness for a time uncertain, for I do not take any pleasure in calling their attention to this great law, and the certainty of its operations. Rather I do this to help men to avoid these sufferings and unhappiness, by seeking the Love of the Father while on earth, because, from my observations, I believe that it can be found more easily while in the flesh, than after a man becomes a spirit.
Another law of the spirit world is that every human being of one sex has, on earth or in the spirit world, one of the opposite sex, who is his soulmate. The importance of this provision of the Father for the happiness of humans and spirits, has never been fully understood by those who have not with certainty met and recognized their soulmates.
I know that on earth men have claimed that certain of the opposite sex were their affinities, and with such claims as an excuse, have done much wrong and sin.
But the soulmate is not an affinity which may be suggested by the passions or desires, but is one provided by the grace and Love of the Father to live with the other soulmate through all eternity. Before they took on the form of flesh, they were united, and when, in accordance with God’s plan, they separated and became mortals, they became no less soulmates, although they may not recollect their former unity or relationship while living the mortal life. But as certain as God lives, these two soulmates, at some time, after they become spirits, will learn their true relationship to each other, and will, if nothing insurmountable intervenes, come together again in true union and happiness.
The mere fact that a certain man and a certain woman are husband and wife on earth, does not mean that they will live together as husband and wife through all eternity. If they are soulmates, they may, but if they are not, they will certainly separate after they enter the spirit world. That true relationship cannot be hidden here, and no mere form of relationship of husband and wife will suffice to keep the persons together.
The great truth of soulmates is one which needs further elucidation, and one which I will try hereafter to explain more fully. But for now it is sufficient to say that every man born of woman has his soulmate, either on earth or in the spirit world, and vice versa.
Well, I have written a great deal tonight and you are tired, and so am I, and so I will continue at another time the rest of my discourse.
