Estoy aquí. Helen.
Quiero contarte la experiencia que tuve hace poco al intentar mostrar a un espíritu el camino hacia el Amor de Dios.
Pues bien, hablé con este espíritu sobre este Amor y le dije que el único camino hacia la felicidad y el Reino Celestial era a través de la oración y la fe, y que todos los espíritus que habitaban esas esferas habían recibido este Gran Amor del Padre únicamente mediante la oración y la fe; y que si ella quería llegar a ser habitante de estos Cielos, debía buscar este Amor de esa manera. Ella me dijo que, cuando estaba en la tierra, le habían enseñado que si tan solo observaba las normas y reglamentos de la iglesia y se dedicaba a trabajar por ella, velando por sus intereses para que pudiera mantenerse y prosperar, iría al cielo tan pronto como dejara la vida terrenal; que eso sería todo lo que se le exigiría, y que no le sería necesario buscar ni esforzarse por alcanzar el Amor de Dios para poder ingresar a los Cielos, donde están Dios y todos Sus ángeles. Le dije que ahora debía comprender que el cumplimiento de lo que consideraba su deber no había sido suficiente para llevarla a esos Cielos, y que debía entender que se precisaba algo más. Sin embargo, ella siguió insistiendo en que su fe en lo que le habían enseñado en la iglesia no podía cambiar, y que muy pronto se convertiría en habitante de esas esferas superiores. Así pues, la dejé, pues vi que en ese momento su creencia se había afianzado tanto en sus convicciones que resultaba inútil intentar convencerla de que estaba obrando bajo una creencia completamente falsa.
Así, me encuentro con que en este plano espiritual hay muchos espíritus sumidos en la oscuridad y el fanatismo, lo cual les impide ver la verdad y ascender a las esferas superiores. No creo que los mortales, al convertirse en espíritus, tengan una mejor oportunidad ─al menos durante algún tiempo─ de comprender y aceptar estas verdades de la que tenían en la tierra; y los hombres y mujeres que enseñan estas cosas tienen un gran pecado del que responder, pues, como dijo Jesús: «maldito está el que cree y enseña estas falsas doctrinas». Y creo que él debió de hacer especial hincapié en la enseñanza, ya que esta afectaba no solo al maestro, sino también a muchos otros que tenían fe y aceptaban estas enseñanzas como verdaderas.
Me alegra mucho no haber estado nunca completamente convencida de estos dogmas eclesiales cuando estaba en la tierra, pues, en consecuencia, me resultó mucho más fácil creer en las verdades tal como son al llegar al mundo espiritual. Por supuesto, fui sumamente afortunada al contar con tu madre y tu abuela ─tan versadas en estas materias─ para que me mostraran el camino; y cuando Jesús vino a mí y corroboró lo que ellas habían dicho, no pude sino creer.
Así pues, ves la importancia de aprender estas verdades mientras se está en la tierra, pues cuanto mayor sea nuestra comprensión de ellas como mortales, más fácil será nuestro progreso hacia las cosas superiores de la vida espiritual.
Bueno, pensé en contarte este pequeño incidente, ya que te muestra una verdad grande e indispensable, una que todos los hombres deberían conocer.

Confirmación de que es Jesús y referencias a un espíritu que afirma haber perdido su alma (3 abril 1915)
Estoy aquí. Jesús.
Sé que lo que dices es verdad; pero soy yo, Jesús, el hombre que fue crucificado en el Calvario, quien viene a ti y te escribe. Quienes no crean este hecho, algún día se convencerán.
Estoy contigo, como te he dicho, porque tengo una tarea para ti y también porque te quiero muy profundamente. Por lo tanto, no debes dudar de mí en modo alguno; y si no lo haces, pronto verás, mediante mis mensajes y también a través de tu propio desarrollo espiritual, que soy el Jesús que afirmo ser. Así pues, cree en mí y serás más feliz y prosperarás en todo sentido. Deseo retomar pronto mis mensajes.
Sí, pronto estarás en condiciones, y entonces seguiremos con nuestra labor.
Pues bien, él (Nota: un espíritu que le escribió al Sr. P. que había perdido su alma. Véase el mensaje «¿Qué es un alma perdida?«, de Jesús, vol. 1) se vio tan abrumado por las consecuencias de haber limitado todos sus pensamientos, cuando estaba en la tierra, a su desarrollo mental, que su alma se vio sumida en la inanición y obligada a desfallecer, y, según cree ahora, le ha abandonado. Por supuesto, él conserva su alma, y tan solo necesita el despertar de sus percepciones espirituales para comprender este hecho; pero mientras permanezca en el estado mental en el que se halla ahora, jamás encontrará su alma, como él mismo dice. Lo único que lo liberará de ese estado mental es la apertura de su naturaleza espiritual y, a continuación, la fe en el Amor del Padre. Tu abuela se está esforzando ahora por propiciar ese despertar, y lo logrará, pues es un espíritu sumamente sabio, además de altamente desarrollado en sus cualidades álmicas.
Ese espíritu no es lo que podrías llamar un espíritu malvado; tan solo cometió el grave error de creer que la mente lo era todo en la existencia y que, como él mismo dijo, el alma y todas las facultades espirituales eran mitos. Muchos espíritus se encuentran en esta condición, en la que la mente eclipsa al alma hasta tal punto que esta, en lo que respecta al conocimiento o las creencias del espíritu, llega a perderse. Con todo, no es un espíritu al que le vaya a resultar muy difícil recuperar su alma tan pronto como se despierten las facultades de esta.
El espíritu desdichado es aquel que sabe que tiene un alma y reconoce que esa alma está llena de pecado y error, pero no vislumbra ningún camino evidente para purificarse. No conozco ningún espíritu más digno de lástima ni que necesite más la influencia y la ayuda tanto de espíritus como de mortales.
Permíteme decirte en este mismo instante que, cuando ayudas a un espíritu a encontrar el camino hacia la salvación y el Amor de Dios, estás realizando la obra más grandiosa que Dios ha encomendado a cualquiera de Sus criaturas. Y cuando ese espíritu, gracias a tu ayuda, encuentra ese camino, comprende la verdad y recibe este Amor, se convierte para siempre en tu amigo más agradecido y en un colaborador para impulsar tu propia existencia espiritual. Así pues, cuando la Biblia dice que por cada alma salvada se añade una nueva estrella a la corona de quien ha sido el instrumento para su salvación, simplemente declara una verdad existente e inmutable. Por lo tanto, en tu labor de ayudar a estos pobres espíritus pecadores y en tinieblas, estás acumulando joyas espirituales que, cuando ingreses al mundo espiritual, formarán parte de la existencia de tu alma.
Por supuesto, no existen joyas como tales; sino que estas representan elevadas cualidades de felicidad y Amor que el Padre te concederá. Los hombres no se dan cuenta de la trascendental importancia que tiene la salvación de un alma, ni de los frutos que obtiene quien actúa como tal salvador.

Él es el único Jesús de la Biblia, y tienes razón al decir que crees que lo es. No permitas que lo que digan los hombres te haga dudar de este hecho, porque es una realidad incuestionable.

Me alegra estar contigo de nuevo, pues quiero contarte algunas verdades de las que te beneficiarás al conocerlas.
Has tenido dudas en mayor o menor medida en tu mente sobre si realmente somos las personas que decimos ser, y si no es tu propia mente la que produce los pensamientos y escribe, o bien si lo hace algún espíritu maligno e impostor.
Quiero decirte ahora, con todo el amor que te tengo, que cada uno de los que te escribimos es quien dice ser, y que a ningún espíritu que pretenda engañarte se le permite escribirte ni comunicarse contigo de manera alguna. Nuestro grupo es lo suficientemente poderoso como para impedir que un espíritu así se entrometa en tu vida. Por supuesto, a los espíritus desdichados que te escriben les permitimos hacerlo; pero no son impostores, sino que te dicen con sinceridad quiénes son. (Nota: Para que pudieran recibir ayuda, el Sr. Padgett hacía que los espíritus desdichados visualizaran a los luminosos. El Sr. Padgett dedicaba una velada a la semana para este propósito).

Así pues, no dejes que la duda penetre en tu mente sobre quién soy o qué declaro ser, porque si existe una verdad en todo el universo, esta afirmación mía es la verdad misma. Mi petición para dar pie a la nota de abajo
Vimos citada, en una parte de un mensaje de Padgett, esta célebre frase de la Biblia:
‘maldito está (o «sea anatema») el que cree y enseña estas falsas doctrinas’.
Gálatas 1:9
Puse «está», en la cita, en vez de «maldito sea», porque la idea sería que, en realidad, Jesús no es el dueño de las leyes que hacen que alguien se «condene a sí mismo», se degrade; o sea, que «puntúe» para recibir una degradación objetiva, en su alma, al cometer actos o al tener creencias que, aunque en un principio puedan parecer no ser tan malos, o incluso ser buenos, sí serían «degradantes».
Tras pasar más allá del plano terrestre (en el cual plano estamos por ejemplo influidos no solo por nuestras inercias, bloqueos y adicciones emocionales, sino por espíritus (desencarnados) que nos pueden manipular para ─con a veces «mucha energía»─ seguir todos en grupo creyendo cosas que no son del todo buenas, o que son directamente falsas o malas ─o incluso influyendo para cometer actos claramente malos, o perjudiciales en general─), tras traspasar el plano terrestre, decíamos, nos podemos dar cuenta de que nos estábamos «maldiciendo»: estábamos acumulando papeletas para merecer un estado nada bueno o casi nada bueno; y estábamos siendo sujetos de evaluaciones por parte de las leyes naturales, que actúan sobre el alma; son evaluaciones digamos objetivas, en la sustancia de nuestra alma degradada ─evaluaciones que nos colocan donde nos colocan, y punto─.

I AM HERE, Helen.
I want to tell you of my experience in trying to show a spirit the way to God’s Love, which I had a short time ago. Well, I talked to this spirit of this Love, and told her that the only way to happiness and to the Celestial Kingdom was through prayer and faith, and that all spirits who were inhabitants of those spheres had received this Great Love of the Father only through prayer and faith; and if she wanted to become an inhabitant of these Heavens she must seek for this Love in that way. She said that she was told when on earth that if she only observed rules and regulations of the church, and devoted herself to doing church work and looking after the interest of the church, so that it might be sustained and fostered, she would go to heaven just as soon as she had left the earth life – that that would be all that would be required of her, and that no other seeking or striving after God’s Love would be necessary to enable her to get into the Heavens where God and all His angels are. I told her that she must now realize that such performance, of what she considered to be her duty, had not been sufficient to carry her into these Heavens, and that she must realize that something more was necessary. But she still persisted, that her belief in what she had been taught in the church could not be changed, and that very soon she would become an inhabitant of these higher spheres. So I left her, because I saw that at this time her belief had so fastened itself upon her convictions, that it was useless to try to convince her that she was laboring under an absolutely false belief.
So, I find that in this spirit plane there are many spirits in darkness and bigotry, which prevents them from seeing the truth and progressing to the higher spheres. I do not think that mortals, when they become spirits, have any better opportunity, for sometime at least, to realize and accept these truths than they had when on earth, and the men or women who teach these things have a great sin to answer for, as Jesus said, cursed is he who believes and teaches these false doctrines. And I think he must have laid especial emphasis on the teaching as it affected not only the teacher, but many others who had faith in and accepted these teachings as true.
I am so glad that I, when on earth, was never fully convinced of these church dogmas: as I consequently found it so much easier when I came to the spirit world to believe the truths as they are. Of course, I was exceptionally blessed in having your mother and grandmother, who are so well versed in these things, to show me the way, and then when Jesus came to me and corroborated what they had said, I could not help from believing.
So you see the importance of learning these truths while on earth, for the greater our comprehension of them as mortals, the more easily will be our progression to the higher things of the spiritual life.
Well, I thought I would tell you of this little incident as it shows you a great and necessary truth, and one which all men should know.

I know that what you say is true, but it is I, Jesus, the man who was crucified on Calvary, that comes to you and writes. These persons who will not believe this fact, will some day become convinced.
I am with you, as I have told you, because I have work for you to do, and also because I love you very dearly. So you must not doubt me in any way; and if you do not, you will soon see from my messages, and also from your own spiritual development, that I am the Jesus that I represent myself to be. So believe in me and you will be happier and prosper in every way. I want soon to commence my messages again.
Yes, you will soon be in condition, and then we will continue our work.
Well, he (note: Spirit wrote Mr. P. that he had lost his soul. See «What is a lost soul» from Jesus. Vol. 1, Pages 343 to 353.) was so overshadowed by the results of his confining all his thoughts, when on earth, to his mental development, that his soul was permitted and compelled to starve, and as he now believes, has left him. Of course, he has his soul, and only needs an awakening of his spiritual perceptions to realize the fact; but as long as he remains in the mental condition that he is now in he will never find his soul, as he says. The only thing that will get him out of that condition of mind is an opening of his spiritual nature, and then a belief in the Love of the Father. Your grandmother is now endeavoring to bring about his awakening, and she will succeed, for she is a very wise as well as highly developed spirit in her soul qualities.
The spirit is not what you might call a wicked one, he only committed the great error of believing that the mind was everything in existence, and as he said, the soul and all spiritual faculties were myths. Many a spirit is in this condition, mind over-shadowing the soul to such a degree as to cause the soul, so far as the knowledge or belief of the spirit is concerned, to be lost. He is not one that will find much difficulty in recovering his soul, as soon as the soul faculties are awakened.
The unfortunate spirit is one who knows that he has a soul, and knows that that soul is filled with sin and error, and has no apparent way of becoming cleansed. I know of no spirit more to be pitied, or who needs more the influence and help of both spirits and mortals.
Let me tell you right here that when you help a spirit to find the way to salvation and God’s Love, you are doing the greatest work that God has given any of his creatures to do – and when that spirit, through your help, finds that way and realizes the truth and receives this Love, he is forever your most thankful friend and worker in forwarding the interests of your own spiritual being. So when the Bible says, for every soul saved there is a new star added to the crown of one who is the instrument in saving such a soul, it only declares a truth which exists and which never changes. So in your work of helping these poor sinful and darkened spirits you are laying up spiritual jewels, which, when you come over into the spirit world, will form a part of your soul’s existence.
Of course, there are no jewels, as such; but they represent great qualities of happiness and Love, which the Father will give you. Men do not realize of what momentous importance the saving of a soul is, and what results come to him as such a savior.
I am not going to write more on this subject now, as in my other messages I will deal with it.
So, I will now say good night.

Well, did not the Master explain what the lost soul means in a way that makes it very plain? I am so glad that you asked him and received the answer that you did.
He is the only Jesus of the Bible and you are right when you say you believe that he is. Let not what men say cause you to doubt this fact, for it is a fact.
He is the greatest son of his Father, and when you have him for a friend, you are rich indeed. So my dear Ned continue to believe in him, and listen to his teachings, and follow them.
Well, I love you, as you know, with all my heart and soul, and with a love that increases as the Father’s Love fills my heart more abundantly; and when I am so filled with more of this Love, I will tell you, and you will know that my love for you has increased correspondingly.

Ann Rollins affirms that no imposters write through Mr. Padgett (5 Apr 1915)
I AM HERE, your grandmother,
Well, I am glad to be with you again, as I want to tell you of some truths that you will be benefitted by knowing.
You have had more or less doubt pass through your mind as to whether we are really the persons whom we represent ourselves to be, and whether your own mind does not produce the thoughts and write, or whether some evil spirit or imposter does not.
I want to tell you now, with all the love which I have for you, that everyone of us who writes you is the person he represents himself to be, and no spirit who may seek to impose on you is permitted to write or in any way communicate with you. Our band is sufficiently powerful to prevent any such spirit from intruding himself upon you. Of course, the unfortunate spirits who write you, we permit to do so, but they are not impostors, but tell you truthfully just who they are. (note: Mr. Padgett enabled the unfortunate spirits to visualize the bright ones so that they could receive help. Mr. Padgett gave one evening each week for this purpose.).
I know how natural it is for you to doubt this great marvel of spirit communion, and of the truthfulness of our representations, but I assure you that it is all true.
The Master is the one of whom you read in the Bible, and of whom you have heard all your life; the only difference being that he is not God or a part of Him, but a spirit – the greatest in all the Celestial Kingdom.
He is not so very different in his desire to do the great work which the Father gave him to do, from what he was on earth, except that he is now more highly developed than when a man traveling the plains and mountains of Palestine.
He is more powerful and knows so many more truths of the Father, but his love is just the same, only greater in degree.
So you must not doubt any longer or you will not develop as you should.
He is the wisest and most filled with the Father’s Love of all the spirits in the Celestial Spheres.
I know that you love us all, and I believe that you love him also, and when I tell you that his love is greater than that of any of us, I am merely telling you what is true.
I would like to write more tonight, but there are some others here who are very anxious to write you and I will stop.

Jesus – The result of Mr. Padgett’s declaration (6 Apr 1915)
I AM HERE, Jesus.
Well, I am here to tell you of my great gratification in hearing you declare your belief in me again as you did today. This may seem to be a small matter to you, but I tell you it is one of greatest moment, not only to my cause but to you personally, because it puts you in close rapport with me, and helps you get into a condition which enables you to respond with a greater facility to my efforts to convey to you my messages. And also it has a reflex influence on your spiritual condition, and tends to increase your faith in what I tell you of the Father’s Love and great mercy, and His plan for man’s redemption.
I am pleased with your declaration and will help you to become more at-one with me in my work.
So let not doubt come into your mind as to my being who and what I represent myself to be, for if there is a truth in all the universe, that assertion of mine is a truth. Let your faith increase, and your life will be happier, and you will become better fitted to inhabit the sphere which I have determined you shall have for your home.
Oh, my dear brother, it is a great consolation to know that you will do my work as I desire it to be done on earth, and to feel that I can rely upon you to receive my «Gospel of Truth and Light to mankind.»
Yes, you were correct and I will soon write on this subject at length, and you will see that, before me, no man or spirit ever declared the truth of immortality. (note: Vol. I – Page 47, by Jesus.) You have a right conception of what I meant, and you will sometime realize that that immortality is for you. You and all who believe as you do and seek for the Divine Essence, which alone can bring immortality to man.
Very soon now I will continue my last message and then we will progress faster in our work.
Well, I will not detain you longer tonight, as there are several present who desire to write.
Well, that is now a part of your work (note: The work referred to is helping spirits who wrote through Mr. Padgett, and enable them to visualize the bright spirits who help them in their progress.), and your band knows that you must do that work. It will not injure your rapport with your band, or cause your power of writing to diminish.
